Giveaway: BlackBerry Bold 9700 fr. WIND Mobile

I finally updated my old Sony Ericsson W810i to a fab new iPhone 3GS, but if I hadn't, I'd definitely be first in line trying to win an awesome BlackBerry WIND Mobile is giving away!

Tomorrow, Canada's newest player to the cell phone market opens its 50th location at Yorkdale Shopping Centre. And to celebrate, they're handing out a BlackBerry Bold 9700 an hour from Sat. April 17 to Sun. April 18.

Perhaps you saw WIND's ad in today's Metro. Well, here's some bonus info: Customers vying for this free phone first have to enter their name in a draw. Then at 50 minutes after the hour, every hour, a winner will be selected, but you have to be in the store at the time to qualify.

Yorkdale's always busy, so get to the mall early and be persistent if you want this coveted prize (a $450 value).

Good luck, and let me know if you're headed home with a brand new crackberry.

Freebies: Mercedes-Benz Mixed Tape 30

When my friend asked, "When's the last time you added new songs to your iPod?" I knew I was in trouble. Apparently my stale playlist needed a serious dose of fresh tunes. Serendipitously, I received an e-newsletter from Mercedes-Benz (No. I don't drive one... yet) announcing the arrival of Mixed Tape 30, the latest edition of their popular Mixed Tape series.

Available for the next eight weeks, download ten amazing tracks from up-and-coming artists, FREE.

The whole collection's fantastic, especially "Everyday" by Jagun. I'm already looking forward to the release of Mercedes-Benz Mixed Tape 31.

Steals: Syd Silver Formals Liquidation

My upcoming spring nuptials have put me in full wedding planning mode. There's still a long list of to-dos, but thankfully I have a lot of help from excited family and friends. In fact, my uncle tipped me off to this:

Syd Silver Formals is shutting down and the entire stock is being liquidated for a steal. Tuxedos with (wait for this) coat, shirt, vest, tie, trousers, suspenders, socks, pocket squares, cufflinks and shoes, from just $99 to $169. Brand names such as Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein and Perry Ellis included. (Last summer my fiancĂ©'s Syd Silver tux rental for his friend's wedding cost him $230.)

At those prices it's cheaper to buy than to rent, I've checked!

My groom-to-be was pretty set on going with the Moores promotion he bought into at a wedding show last year. A $10 deposit guarantees groomsmen $30 off their rental, and the groom's tux rental free. But this Syd Silver steal beats that one, hands down.

A few locations are still open for a limited time. Check out the sale today at the Wingold Ave. store from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Be prepared for a crowd.

Deal: Tim Hortons Donut $0.49

I'm pretty fortunate that my day job provides free coffee, so I usually don't have to go out for a caffeine fix. But when a friend suggested we grab some Tims this morning, I couldn't resist... and neither could the bargain hunter in me.

For a limited time only, Tim Hortons donuts are just $0.49 each when you buy any beverage.

I ordered a double-double and my favourite donut, Sour Cream Glazed. I also decided to try the new Caramel Apple Fritter the commercial has been pushing.

*Catch: The deal only allows one $0.49-donut per beverage purchase, so I had to pay full price, $0.99 for the second.

Both donuts were delicious. Nice 'n fresh, soft, sugary-sweet too. I probably didn't need to eat two of them, but hey, it's Friday!

Just in case you're curious, the cheapest drink on the menu is the small coffee. Just $1.23, tax included.
